Our Federal Government client is seeking to engage an EL1 Diversity and Inclusion Manager on a contract until June 2021.

Position Overview

The Manager, Diversity and Inclusion is responsible for developing, coordinating, implementing and monitoring diversity and inclusion strategies and initiatives. The Manager, Diversity and Inclusion is responsible for leadership of the Diversity and Inclusion Section who provide advice and implement better practice diversity and inclusion initiatives that align with client's vision, strategic objectives and values. Taking personal responsibility for outcomes, along with the ability to meet expectations, building and sustaining key internal and external relationships and being proactive will contribute to the achievement of a successful organisation through a diverse workplace culture.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop, coordinate, implement and monitor diversity and inclusion strategies and frameworks to ensure the achievement of diversity objectives and targets
  • Actively build, maintain, facilitate and collaborate with key internal and external stakeholders to raise awareness and keep up-to-date with diversity and inclusion practices.
  • Work collaboratively and recognise the contributions of others through consultation and sharing information, encouraging support of key stakeholders and challenging important issues constructively.
  • Understand the work environment, providing impartial, forthright advice and consultation on complex diversity and inclusion matters, consistent with relevant Australian Public Service frameworks and legislation, to internal stakeholders including senior management.
  • Develop, analyse and review complex diversity and inclusion metrics and reporting mechanisms to capture diversity and inclusion data and trends and monitor the implementation of strategies and initiatives to ensure that milestones are met and commitments are delivered.
  • Set the direction of the section and your own work priorities to ensure the provision of timely and accurate advice and implementation of diversity and inclusion initiatives.
  • Communicate diversity and inclusion initiatives and facilitate the celebration of specific events to ensure awareness and engagement across the organisation.
  • Develop, coach and mentor employees through effective performance management, conflict resolution and the identification of training needs.

Mandatory Requirements:

  • The successful candidate will be required to have a Baseline clearance.
  • Demonstrated experience and success in leading and managing a section that has clear work tasks aligned with strategic objectives and expected outcomes are clearly articulated.
  • Demonstrate the capacity to develop a good understanding of relevant policy frameworks and legislation to inform the development of diversity and inclusion strategies and initiatives.
  • Proactively manage risk, respond in a positive and flexible manner to changing demands to achieve outcomes and encourage others to do the same.
  • Demonstrate strong project management skills and the ability to prioritise work to meet key milestones.
  • Embrace the positive benefits of diverse views, value expertise and play a role in coaching, guiding and developing employees.
  • Knowledge and experience in delivering diversity and inclusion strategies and frameworks is desirable.
