Our Federal Government client is seeking to engage a Digital ID - Policy Officer till 30 June 2023.

Position Overview

The Digital Identity Assistant Director is responsible for contributing to policy and strategy development for the Digital ldentity program. This includes identifying strategies to align Digital Identity with the Government's policy objectives and engaging with stakeholders to ensure strategic decisions of Senior Executives are informed by the best available advice.

The Assistant Director will also contribute to Ministerial briefs, Cabinet submissions and other strategic documents, as well as represent the DTA in meetings and forums. In order to do this, the Assistant Director will work closely with other teams in the Digital Identity branch.

Other duties may include coordination of reporting, branch administration, contract management and other tasks that may be required from time to time.

Requirements of this role include:

  • Writing strategic documents and briefs to support the deliberations of Senior Executives, Ministers and Cabinet
  • Reviewing proposals from agencies to identify Digital Identity reuse opportunities
  • Developing Digital Identity-related policy
  • Working closely with delivery teams to ensure that reports and strategic documents are informed by the most up to date information and context
  • Assisting with reporting, contract management, procurement and other administrative requirements of the team and the branch
  • Supervision of other team members, as required.

Skills and experience

  • The role requires a high level of autonomy with experience in development of digital policy and strategy, as well as Cabinet processes.
  • The applicant is required to demonstrate an ability to engage effectively with technical experts and translate their advice into actionable insights for non-technical audiences.
  • The role requires a high level of productivity, resourcefulness and demonstrated proactive and collaborative qualities to establish and maintain effective stakeholder relationships.
  • The occupant of the role is required to use initiative and experience to analyse, plan and review the strategic context of the program and develop recommendations on how to respond.
  • The occupant of the role is required to develop a detailed (but non-technical) understanding of the Digital Identity system and other related digital initiatives, including Treasury's Consumer Data Right and Home Affair's Identity-Matching Services initiatives.
  • The occupant of the role will have proven experience in representing their organisation to a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
  • A high-level understanding of the TDIF, participating partner agencies roles and responsibilities in different components across the Digital Identity system including myGov environments is highly desirable.
