Widely recognized and well positioned in the Australian market, this business are a leading retailer. They run numerous large scale Distribution Centres across the country and currently have an opportunity to bring in an Operations/DC Transition Lead to join their team to support the Operations Team with a safe and successful Automations upgrade and Distribution Centre expansion.  This role is 3-4 month contract position.

The Operations/DC Transition Lead will lead the necessary transition preparation and execution  across multiple Distribution Centres currently in operation.  You will support the Operational Teams and the Project Team to manage the appropriate movement of stock during the initial two stage expansion transition. 

This is a hands-on-role reporting directly to the Project Manager. There is an indirect reporting line to the National OpEx Manager whilst also working with other transition and operational excellence resources.  The role is responsible for planning and overseeing the successful and safe movement of all inventory and designated assets from the current “as-is” operation to the future “to-be” operational footprint under development.

The principal 3 objectives of this role are:
  1. Develop a plan to minimize safety and service impacts to the WA Operation before, during and after the transition phases.
  2. Ensure transition process does not exceed agreed budget or timelines.
  3. Identify and address with the Project Manager any known issues and risk related to the transition plan while leveraging lessons learned from previous transitions.

Typical daily duties will include the following;
  • Leading and reporting on Project & Safety success indicators
  • Team leadership and deployment of staff
  • Management of staff performance and performance plans
  • Participation in DC planning and resource management
The DC is a large fast moving operation and requires a candidate with the ability to think on their feet and react quickly to their environment. To be considered for this Project based role, it is expected that you have the following skills and attributes:
  • Strong operational management and project management exposure (ideally from FMCG, Food, Retail Warehousing)
  • Experience using Dallas WMS in an Inventory capacity, ie. Stock moves, slotting, location setups, etc       
  • Advanced communication skills, with the ability to deliver messages to large groups
  • Mature minded, able to develop and coach staff through issues
  • Highly exposed to workplace safety
