The Database and Integration Specialist designs, manages and maintains databases and ensures databases are always available as needed. This role is also responsible for developing, managing and maintaining integrations between systems.

Key accountabilities

 Ensure 24x7 operation of mission-critical database systems
 Perform common database administration tasks, enhance operational standards and policies for DB environments using industry experience and best practices to meet business needs
 Provide thought and technical leadership on data modelling, physical design and integration design
 Identify and resolve performance problems with database systems
 Maintain and administer point to point file transfers and integrations
 Develop and implement new and replacement system integrations using integration platform
 Maintain and administer integration platforms
 Maintain and incrementally enhance disaster recovery capabilities for databases
 Work with QA and IT teams to ensure data security for production, staging, testing and development environments
 The position is expected to comply with the Work Health and Safety Act and associated legislation in the performance of all duties

Key challenges

 Replacing complex file transfer point to point integrations between existing systems with new products and capability within an integration platform
 Continuously enhancing, improving and documenting operational standards and policies for DB environments using industry experience and best practices to meet business needs.
 Receive advice and report on progress towards business objectives and discuss future directions
 Provide expert advice and contribute to decision making
 Identify emerging issues/risks and their implications and propose solutions Project Teams
 Active participation in discussions and make recommendation regarding database/integration solution design
 Deploy solutions with reference to documentation, highlight and resolve issues Business Stakeholders
 Provide expert advice on a range of project related issues and strategies
 Optimise engagement to achieve defined outcomes
 Manage expectations and resolve issues
 Communicate needs, facilitate routine business transactions and resolve issue
 Critically review service provider deliverables and make recommendation on database/integration related designs, methods and quality issue remediation.

The position is expected to comply with the Work Health and Safety Act and associated legislation in the performance of all duties.

The position is accountable for decisions regarding:

 Deploying database releases with compliance to the CoS Change Control Standard and enacting specified activities under the City's Business Continuity Plan.
 Database environment technical management;


Knowledge & Skills

 Minimum five years of experience in MS SQL server database administration in high volume transaction processing environment
 Minimum five years' experience in design and implementing BizTalk enterprise solutions and server administration and configuration
 Advanced .NET programing experience
 Advanced T-SQL experience
 Experience in developing SSRS, SSIS
 Experience in designing and developing system integrations solution
 Experience or exposure in development of Azure Logic Apps
 Ability to work outside of business hours when necessary
 Tertiary qualifications with minimum bachelor's degree in computer science/engineering
