Our Federal Government client is seeking to engage an EL1 Data Analyst on a contract for 12 months with potential extension.

Position Overview

Data and Analytics is a small, specialist team responsible for the development of data analysis, risk profiling and supporting various compliance and fraud tools and processes.

The purpose of this position is to undertake complex data analysis to detect fraud and non-compliance and provide technical support and insights on key issues within the department.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • work independently and as part of a small team to deliver outcomes.
  • development and gathering of complex requirements to develop risk profiles and data analysis products. You will use analytical tools such as SAS and Teradata to interrogate and combine dataset to detect and analyse fraud and non-compliance risks.
  • apply logical thought and problem-solving skills on both urgent tactical issues and more long-term projects.
  • process maps, procedures and supporting documentation for data analysis and reporting and undertake quality assurance processes and tasks.
  • bring extensive data analysis experience to contribute to the strategic direction of the branch's data analytics capability.

Skills & Experience:

Desirable:

  • Experience with complex data analysis
  • Experience using SAS, Teradata and other data analysis tools
  • Exposure to tool development and automation with Microsoft Excel, Access and VBA
  • A sound understanding of compliance and fraud detection practices
  • A sound understanding of the role and responsibilities of the Agency
  • A strong understanding of data preparation and analysis
