Our Federal Government client is seeking to engage multiple Cyber and Technology - Policy Officer till 30 June 2023.

Position Overview

We are looking for enthusiastic Policy Officers to support major reforms to the way cyber security and hosting services are delivered across government to better harden government IT.

The Policy Officers are responsible for assisting to develop across-government policy outcomes and coordinating program delivery. This involves developing high-level advice to executives and ministers and preparing high-level papers, artefacts, and timelines, Government and Ministerial committees.

A critical function of these roles is preparing submissions reporting and briefings to executives, the secretaries' digital and data committee, the Minister and Government. The Policy Officer will coordinate and develop program-level reporting.

Our ideal candidates are motivated self-starters with strong initiative, organisational skills and attention to detail. They should be able to operate in a fast-paced environment and manage competing priorities.

The key duties of the position are:

As Policy Officers, you will be required to perform the following:

  • Report initiative progress and ensure delivery towards deadlines and milestones.
  • Undertake research and develop papers for senior meetings and engagements.
  • Consult key stakeholders and get their input into key deliverables and reports.
  • Draft documents, communications, and other materials to support the initiative.
  • Provide mentorship, support and advice to junior staff.

Capabilities required

Suitable candidates will report to the Assistant Director.

As Policy Officers, you will be expected to bring the following skills and experience:

  • Excellent writing, research, and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to prepare high level documents, papers, reports, and briefings with minimal supervision.
  • An ability to interpret and apply legislation, instructions, guidelines, and procedures.
  • An ability to support junior staff and provide feedback, advice and mentorship.
  • Desirable but not essential:
  • Experience in a policy, technology, reporting, project, finance, procurement, communications or legal role.
