The Opportunity
Chandler Macleod is looking to engage a Customer Experience Officer to work on a casual basis with a well-established NSW Government department.

This is not your ordinary Customer Experience Officer role as you will be required to work onboard a sailing vessel on Sydney's harbour. In this role will be the primary contact for all passengers voyaging on the vessel and be responsible for ensuring all elements of the customer experience are delivered to the highest quality and actively contribute to a positive customer experience.

Job Specification
In this position, you will be required to perform but are not limited to the following tasks:

  • Act as host and main point of contact for all passengers, from first arrival on site, throughout the voyage and until departure from site.
  • Undertake preparations for every voyage, including:

Liaise with Bookings Officer to confirm passenger details, including any special requirements

Collect food and beverage from caterer, deliver to vessel and set up food and beverage on board

Inform Captain of passenger details, including any special requirements

  • Act as host at all times passengers are on board, Including:

Verbal briefing to all passengers (loud and exuberant), including:

Acknowledgement of country

Run through itinerary of the voyage

Introduce professional crew and acknowledge and introduce volunteer crew

Introduce Captain to give safety briefing

Voyage points of interest and introduction to activities or guest speakers

Serve food and beverage to all passengers

Pro-actively monitor and oversee passenger experience on board

  • Undertake post voyage tasks, including:

Ensure rubbish and waste is collected and disposed of

Analyse and evaluate each voyage to identify continuous improvement opportunities and prepare a brief post event report

Ensure passengers are treated in a professional manner at all times

Ensure passengers health and safety is paramount and conducted in accordance with Work Health and Safety standards.

Maintain legal requirements in accordance with Responsible Service of Alcohol.

Take instruction and undertake tasks as may be identified from time to time by the Captain.

About You
To be successful in this position, you will need to have experience in the following:

  • Excellent communicator with people of all different cultural backgrounds and ages
  • Love working directly with people
  • Hold a current Responsible Service of Alcohol certificate
  • Skilled at helping people efficiently, with care and a high level of patience
  • Ability to quickly change approach to customer interaction based on the customer's experiences and situation
  • Ability to work without close supervision but within a team environment under strict health and safety guidelines
  • Ability to work on board a sailing vessel in all weather conditions
  • Availability to work out of hours and weekends as required
  • Lively, extroverted personality
