We are seeking a Coordinator Library Visitor Experience to join the Coffs Harbour Library team as they transition into Yarrila Place in the heart of the Coffs Harbour city centre, scheduled to open in mid-2023. This exciting new building will include a central library over three floors with dedicated spaces for Children and Youth, as well as a new combined regional gallery and museum, and a range of program spaces including the arts workshop, a Makespace, and Digital Creative Studio. Coffs Harbour Libraries also include branch libraries in Toormina and Woolgoolga.

Why the team needs you

Reporting directly to the Service Leader Libraries, the Coordinator Library Visitor Experience will lead an experienced team delivering professional, client-centred, front of house services of the Coffs Harbour Libraries, promoting and nurturing a positive and engaging experience for all visitors.

You will oversee and coordinate a team of library assistants who have the rewarding responsibility of interacting daily with our diverse and interesting client groups, providing access and education on the functions and services of Coffs Harbour Libraries. There is a strong focus on supporting and developing team members with a focus on customer service, change management and continuous improvement.

What you'll bring to the team

To be successful in this role, you will be a highly motivated people leader who has proven experience leading and managing diverse teams. It is essential that you are collaborative and possess exceptional communication skills ensuring effective participation from all stakeholder groups to build trust, balance expectations and influence in an ever- changing environment.

You will possess a degree qualification as recognised by the Australian Library and Information Association or equivalent as well as,
  • Develop and supervise a high performing team of library assistants in the delivery of innovative and responsive visitor services. This includes planning and overseeing the day-to-day workflows of the team and delivering on key service objectives and organisational priorities.
  • Provide advice to senior leadership on policy and planning in relation to branch issues, staff, and facilities.
  • Ensure consistent application of circulation policies and procedures across all branches.
  • Oversee presentation of the public floor areas, orderliness of the collections and monitor the effectiveness and condition of library facilities and equipment, ensuring branch libraries maintain a professional and vibrant appearance.
  • Contribute to the improvement of processes of the Libraries Unit and support staff through change management processes as required.
  • Produce and analyse statistical performance data; provide feedback to staff; and take steps to improve service / performance where applicable.
  • Effectively and efficiently resolve customer service issues as required.
