Chandler Macleod is currently recruiting for an experienced Contracting Officer to join a leading Federal Government agency. This is an immediate start with a contract term of 12 months.
Based in Wollongong, this agency is tasked with being responsible for providing Australia's national charting service through hydrographic, charting, oceanographic and meteorology services.

In this position you will be expected to:

  • Accountable for providing advice and support to procurement planning, tendering and contract formation and contract management activities while ensuring compliance with legislation, procurement policies, processes and procedures.
  • Provide guidance, advice and services during the procurement lifecycle on contracting activities including coordination of legal and financial services.
  • Draft and review contracting correspondence including complex, commercially sensitive reports, submissions, contract change proposals and other documents as required.
  • Understand and provide advice on commercial risk, legal principles and contractual performance requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with supervisor, stakeholders and subject matter experts to resolve complex contracting problems.
  • Build, sustain and encourage productive relationships with team members and actively participate in teamwork and group activities.
  • Analyse risks and develop mitigation strategies for the risks associated with procurement and contracting activities, contract performance and compliance with legislative and policy frameworks.
  • Take the initiative to seek and act on feedback from supervisor to confirm agreed performance.
  • Apply the Commonwealth Procurement Framework to complex commercial issues and recommend solutions to meet business objectives.

About You:
To succeed in this role, you will be a team player, highly organised and motivated with a demonstrated ability to work flexibly and to tight deadlines. Further to this, to be considered for the role you will also need:

  • Experience with complex procurement tasks.
  • Proven experience in contracting and a desire to produce high quality, detailed contract documentation.
  • The ability to positively interact with all internal and external stakeholders with a focus on mutually beneficial outcomes.
  • Have a high attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and oral skills.
