Chandler Macleod is currently recruiting for an experienced Contracting Officer to join a leading Federal Government agency. This is an immediate start with a contract term of 12 months.

Based in Wollongong, this agency is tasked with being responsible for providing Australia's national charting service through hydrographic, charting, oceanographic and meteorology services.

Key Accountabilities:
In this position you will be expected to:

  • Assist with and undertake procurement planning, tendering and contract formation and contract management activities, ensuring compliance with legislation, procurement policies, processes and procedures.
  • Coordinate the provision of advice, assistance and services for procurement policy, technical, commercial, legal, financial investigation and other requirements as applicable in order to support contract management outcomes.
  • Apply knowledge to deliver procurement related documentation including templates, schedule, correspondence, reports, submissions, plans and strategies, risk and performance reviews, contract change proposals and other contract management documentation.
  • Understand and apply legal principles, legislative and mandatory policy compliance obligations, critical commercial risk and performance requirements related to procurement and contract management.
  • Engage and negotiate with clients and stakeholders including project team members and subject matter experts and respond to complex enquiries and contract management issues.
  • Build and sustain productive relationships with supervisors, staff and team members and actively participate in team work and group activities.
  • Monitor and manage contract administration, performance and risks against the contract and contribute to implementing appropriate action.

About You:
To succeed in this role, you will be a skilled facilitator and trainer, a team player, highly organised and motivated with a demonstrated ability to work flexibly and to tight deadlines. Further to this, to be considered for the role you will also need:

  • A proven experience in contracting and a desire to produce high quality, detailed contract documentation;
  • A background in complex procurement;
  • The ability to interact positively with internal and external stakeholders and industry with a focus on mutually beneficial outcomes and performance; and
  • Be confident and open communication, with a high level of attention to detail, including a high level in written communication skills.
