Construction Supervisor

(Construction Supervisor Secondment - Capital Works Program)

Location - Portland
Rate - $61.81 + super per hour
Length - 6 to 9 months casual


Applications are invited from permanent Portland Aluminium Maintenance Supervisors for the 6-9 month secondment position of Construction Supervisor - Capital Works

Reporting to the Senior Capital and Plant Services Engineer, The Construction Supervisor is a member of the Project Team and is responsible for the delivery of construction packages safely and in accordance with the scope of works (SoW), design, specification, schedule and budget.

They will be required to work closely with the project team including Project Manager, Designers and Technical Engineers, Asset Owners and their representatives and contractors (both embedded and non-embedded).

The Construction Supervisor role will include:
  • Participating in relevant project value improvement processes, by incorporating construction experience in the solution analysis, scope definition, planning, plant interfaces, design, and procurement activities.
  • Ensuring that the engagement of contractor resources is in accordance with company's EHS policies and procedures.
  • Following company's safety policy and procedures.
  • Ensuring the Contractor/s have all the necessary permits signed off to allow onsite work to proceed as covered by the Authority to Mobilise (ATM) and Authority to Proceed (ATP) documentation.
  • Escalating and reporting all EHS incidents, participating in all EHS investigations and follow up activities.
  • Responsibility for ensuring the Contractor delivers the contract scope of work in accordance with the Contract, escalating to Procurement and the Project Manager for assistance in the resolution of contractual matters.
  • Managing construction interfaces between contractors and Company's Operations.
  • Responsibility for signing off ITP's and the monitoring, auditing, and reporting on the Contractors Quality Management Plan ensuring quality and workmanship standards are met.
  • Verifying to the satisfaction of the Project Manager construction progress.
  • Ensuring any work additional to the contract is formally documented and approved in accordance with the relevant procedure by way of Site Instruction/EWT prior to commencement.
  • Maintaining an Extra Work Ticket (EWT) and Site Instruction (SI) Register for the contract.
  • Signing off daily, all timesheets for any works carried out by the Contractor on day works and ensuring claims and invoices align with the approved timesheets.
  • Fields all Technical Queries (TQ's) relating to construction and referring them to the Project Manager for clarification and maintaining a TQ register for the Contract.
  • Consulting with the Project Manager in relation to any changes.
  • Working with the Operations Area and the AOR to coordinate shutdown and tie-ins
  • Ensuring pre-commissioning is completed as outlined in the Field Procedure - Pre-Commissioning.
  • Responsibility for the development of punch lists and close out of punch list items.
