Our client is an industry-leading company who constructs and commissions large-scale solar farms across Australia. This is your chance to gain valuable experience on a Renewable Energy project.

This Melbourne based role, with considerable time to be spent onsite, will focus primarily on the compliance, community and stakeholder coordination for the construction of two solar farms in Melbourne. The client is a Government Authority.

The compliance component of the role not only includes the planning and environmental conditions of consent as part of the Development Approval but several conditions that form part of the contract with the client, such as the social procurement compliance plan.

In terms of sustainability, this role will be responsible for driving environmental outcomes such as offsetting carbon associated with construction activities, recycling of conventional waste materials where possible and the use of clean energy for power being used on site.

There will also be scope to assist our Client to develop some internal policies and procedures in relation to social procurement.

This will be a 12-month casual contract with the possibility of ongoing work pending the securing of ongoing projects.

List of Activities to be undertaken as part of this role:

1. Environmental Compliance

1.1 Implement, coordinate and oversee the compliance of all conditions of the environmental management plans, including landscaping and groundcover management plans;

1.2 Be aware of and manage compliance of all relevant environmental legislative requirements;

1.3 Implement internal environmental audits;

1.4 Coordinate and facilitate external environmental audits;

1.5 Assist to resolve complaints relating to environmental impacts;

1.6 Communicate environmental requirements to relevant site personnel;

1.7 Minimise negative environmental impacts through reducing waste, recycling, carbon offsets, etc.;

1.8 Undertake internal and external reporting for environmental performance, non-compliances and incidents as required by the environmental management plans.

2. Planning Compliance

2.1 Be aware of and manage compliance with all conditions of the Development Consent including all planning obligations and any other required permits;

2.2 Liaise with relevant government agencies in relation to regulatory conditions and compliance issues.

2.3 Oversee compliance with Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning

2.4 Oversee compliance with stakeholder conditions.

3. Social Procurement Compliance

3.1 Ensure that the project is able to achieve all commitments made in relation to, Returnable Schedule 20 - Supplier Code of Practice and Social Procurement Framework;

3.2 Work with the project controllers to keep a list of all local businesses used;

3.3 Assist project managers to meet any targets in relation to procurement, such as compliance with the Australian Industry Plan;

3.4 Manage ICN Services;

3.5 Assist to develop a business wide social procurement framework for our client.

4. Community and Stakeholder Engagement

Coordinate an honest and open community and stakeholder engagement process.

4.1 Develop and review the Community and Stakeholder Management Plan;

4.2 Organise and attend community events and stakeholder meetings;

4.3 Provide general landholder / neighbour updates during the construction of the project;

4.4 Provide assistance in relation to construction related landholder/neighbour issues;

4.5 Facilitate site visits by community groups, client representatives and other stakeholders;

4.6 Plan, facilitate and coordinate site open day - if required;

4.7 Provide support and assistance in dealing with specific issues and conflict resolution with community members and or stakeholders;

4.8 Maintain a register of all complaints;

4.9 Maintain a record of all stakeholder communications (stakeholder register).

5. Communications:

5.1 Be the point of contact and respond to community enquiries;

5.2 Assist to prepare newsletters and other information materials for the community;

5.3 Assist to Prepare media releases/stories, as and when needed;

5.4 Receive, manage and document complaints and enquiries;

5.5 Respond to emails that are sent via the webpage.

What you will bring to the role:

A demonstrated background in a similar role.

A strong planning and environmental compliance background.

Reliability and Commitment to the length of the contract

The ability to work comfortably on an active construction site as well as within the local community.

A current and valid Drivers Licence and White Card.
