Our Client, a NSW Government Agency currently has a vacancy to fill for a Compliance & Regulation Officer in their Dubbo operations.

This position is for an immediate start on a contract up until the 30th June 2022 with the possibility of extension for the right candidate.

The primary function of the Compliance & Regulation Officer is to implement robust and credible compliance and audit programs within the region that ensures best regulatory practice and the delivery of innovative environmental and conservation outcomes, consistent with relevant policies, practices and statuatory requirements.

This position will be working 35 hours per week with an attractive pay rate of $52.54 p/hr + Superannuation.

Key accountabilities:

  • Actively participate in the development, promotion, delivery, evaluation and reporting on compliance
    and regulatory programs within the region in line with Environment, Energy & Science compliance
    policies, to ensure best regulatory practice, and support effective environmental and conservation
  • Work as part of a team to effectively implement regulatory measures that are consistent with
    legislative requirements and current policy.
  • Prepare written reports, submissions, briefing notes and ministerial correspondence on a range of
    issues including contentious or politically sensitive issues often involving significant financial
    implications and government credibility.
  • Provide high level advice to management within the Biodiversity and Conservation Division, Climate
    Change & Sustainability Division and Legal Services Division on issues related to the coordinated
    delivery of high quality compliance programs.
  • Represent Environment, Energy & Science in a range of forums to influence and provide advice on
    operational activities ensuring consistency with government policy and legislative requirements.

  • Understanding the complexities of impacting issues in the operating context and developing and
    recommending solutions.

    Essential requirements:
  • Demonstrated knowledge of contemporary operational and strategic requirements for undertaking complex compliance programs, audits and investigations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in implementing compliance and regulation in a government or non-government setting.
  • Experience in dealing with environmental breaches.
  • Generally, an understanding of regulatory process and investigative procedures is desirable.
  • Environmental knowledge and/or qualifications would be advantageous.
  • Computer literacy and GIS experience beneficial.
  • Current NSW Class C Drivers Licence
