Our Federal Government client is seeking to engage a Community and Engagement Project Officer on a contract for 12 months with potential extension.

Position Overview

The APS5 Communications and Engagement Project Officer is a team membership position that may be required to perform work that involves providing technical communications and engagement advice and being accountable for delivering tasks as requested. It will require working collaboratively within the team including sharing and developing specialised knowledge in areas of expertise. The position has reasonable autonomy and accountability to develop plans for short-term tasks and contribute to strategic planning for longer-term initiatives. The role will also apply innovation to tasks and contribute to evaluations and continuous improvement processes.

The APS5 Communications and Engagement Project Officer will provide detailed technical, professional, operational support and advice in relation to complex problems. The role may have exposure to the public in relation to complex, difficult or sensitive issues. It may liaise with a range of internal and external stakeholders in a representational role on behalf of the branch and wider Agency.

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Supporting the strategic direction to project areas to drive behavioural change through Communications and Engagement with targeted content and engagement activities.
  • Supporting the development and delivery of communications and engagement plans, producing accessible and Plain English content for a variety of channels (e.g.NDIS website, Ministerial and Executive Briefings, social media and other communication platforms)
  • Contributing within a project management framework including, research, reporting and co-ordinating priority areas for communication and engagement.
  • Supporting leaders in driving organisational change and corporate culture in complex environments with the ability to quickly earn trust and achieve strategic objectives.
  • Assist line manager in risk assessment and risk management activities for communications and engagement projects with considerable complexity and sensitivity
  • Supporting the delivery of best practice communication and engagement to staff with measurable impact
  • Developing a range of internal and external accessible communication material including key message packs, articles, documents, web content, PowerPoint presentations and leadership
  • Experience working with change management, delivering behavioural change within agile project management methodology.
