Chandler Macleod is currently recruiting for an experienced Communications Officer to join a leading Federal Government agency. This is an immediate start with a contract term of 6 months with the potential to extend beyond this date.

This position is based in the Sydney CBD with the expectation that the successful candidate is able to work in the office 2 days per week.

The Role
The Communications Officer supports the Manager, Communication and Media with the development and implementation of external and internal communications relating to publication releases, education programs and the development of engaging content for the promotion of the agency's activities.

This includes but is not limited to:

  • Engaging with internal stakeholders to proactively develop and deliver communications materials.
  • Track resourcing requirements and project deadlines to support delivery of work plans.
  • Support development and implementation of business processes to enhance efficient delivery of communication services.
  • Contribute to internal communications strategy to support enhanced communications across hybrid work environment.
  • Developing and implementing comprehensive communications plans for internal and external audiences that consider a broad range of target audiences with tailored messaging.
  • Drafting and editing external stakeholder emails, media releases, briefing notes and topical social media content for the release of publications, consultations, digital learning programs and events.
  • Managing internal communications, including internal initiatives, team building and intranet content (via SharePoint) that fosters an inclusive and supportive culture.
  • Building and maintaining strong internal and external relationships, alongside the maintenance of the stakeholder list through customer relationship management and email marketing programs.
  • Developing creative briefs for the production of marketing collateral such as graphics, fact sheets, infographics, signage and presentations with a strong understanding of the application of brand and visual identity.
  • Monitoring, reporting and evaluating marketing and communication campaigns that inform and improve future strategies, including the ability to interpret and provide commentary on digital communication analytics.
  • Supporting the Digital Media Coordinator to deliver multimedia digital marketing campaigns, including the ability and interest to identify opportunities and leverage market insights.

About You:
To succeed in this role, you will be an effective team player, highly organised and motivated with a demonstrated ability to work flexibly and to tight deadlines. Further to this, to be considered for the role you will also need:

  • . Tertiary qualifications in communications, journalism or other relevant qualifications will be an advantage but are not essential.
  • Minimum two years' experience in a communication or public relations role
  • Possess excellent and diverse copywriting skills with demonstrable experience in producing clear and accessible content based on Plain English principles.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of the print and digital media landscape, including familiarity with website and social media platforms.
  • Demonstrate developed project management and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Have capability to work under time pressure while maintaining quality of outputs.
  • Possess a growth mindset, with a strong interest to continue to learn, build upon professional development and empower a positive culture for team building.
  • Have a strong understanding of communication data analysis to report, track and interpret analytics of promotional campaigns, for increased lead generation.
