Our Federal Government client is seeking to engage an APS6 Communications Officer on a contract for 12 months with potential extension of 12 months.

About the Role:

To support agile implementation of Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme (SRES) Reforms as BAU and specifically support the delivery of substantial communications activities required, the agency requires the resources of APS6 level contractor to be placed in the Communications and Contact Centre section in the Corporate Branch to free up existing Renewable Energy Target (RET) communications resourcing to directly support SRES Reforms communications activities. This contractor resource will contribute to delivery of communications activities including but not limited to:

  • Support to the RET Branch regarding communications related work
  • Development of RET communications plans, content on the agency website, communications messaging to industry stakeholders and scheme participants and delivery of webinar events
  • Liaison with internal and external stakeholders to support communications activities

Duties & Responsibilities:

The role will include the following duties:

  • Deliver high-quality communications and engagement services and support to engage with agency's staff, stakeholders and clients.
  • Provide professional expertise and support in strategic communication and account management, and support other communications areas including internal communication, media, social media, stakeholder engagement, event support, publications, and online content design and development as required.
  • Work independently, leading on projects, with limited direction within established priorities, practices, and processes to deliver quality outcomes.
  • Manage and deliver on multiple activities and projects simultaneously, demonstrating agility to move between priorities to support the section or the agency.
  • Produce high-quality, accurate, timely communication materials within required deadline.
  • Translate complex technical material into engaging content to meet the needs of a range of stakeholder audiences.
  • Evaluate, innovate and improve on the work delivered to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Edit content supplied by business areas, checking for quality, formatting, and adherence to the agency writing style guide, APS Style Manual and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines.
  • Liaising with different business areas across the agency in consultation with the Senior Communications Advisors
  • Other communications-related functions as required more broadly across the Section

Skills & Experience:

The successful Communications Officer will need to have the following experience and skills:

  • Experience in communications
  • Excellent organisation and planning skills including attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision, across teams and manage competing priorities.
  • Familiarity with government processes and record keeping practices
  • Work full-time including 7.5 hours per day five days per week (business days).

Mandatory Requirements:

  • The successful candidate will be required to have a Baseline security clearance.
