Our Federal Government client is seeking to engage an APS6 Communications Officer on a contract for 12 months with potential extension.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Under limited direction, develop content, creative and video products that are published through multiple channels to optimise reach and engagement.
  • Provide expert and considered communications advice to specialist areas across a range of programs and activities for the agency.
  • Contribute to the development of team objectives for short term tasks and strategic planning for longer-term initiatives.
  • Research, write and edit content to educate external audiences and stakeholders, ensuring complex information is simplified while retaining technical accuracy.
  • Engage with relevant stakeholders to establish priority and emerging topics for communication and education activities.
  • Support internal stakeholders in the dissemination of technically accurate information tailored to specific audience requirements.
  • Engage with external stakeholders in order to amplify TGA messaging through social media promotion, stakeholders' networks and communication channels, such as e-newsletters.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of communication activities in line with key business objectives.
  • Perform on-call social media moderation as part of a team roster.
  • Contribute to the development and management of the annual stakeholder survey to ensure external feedback is sought to better serve Australians and the Australian health products industry.
  • Contribute to internal communications functions and other team functions as needed.

Mandatory Requirements:

Candidates must be able to demonstrate:

  • A degree or equivalent in communications, marketing, media or similar.
  • At least five years' experience in a communications or similar role.
  • The ability to set priorities for the work area, maintain team cohesion, and ensure quality outputs for the team.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • The ability to build and sustain positive relationships with colleagues and clients.
  • Communicates clearly with the capability to present information in a clear and concise manner using appropriate language to ensure clarity.
  • The ability to see projects through to completion, remaining responsive to changing circumstances.
