Chandler Macleod is working with a large company who currently have an employment opportunity for an experienced Communications Officer, for a temporary position to start As soon as possible.

The purpose of this role is to develop and implement external and internal communication strategies to enhance and protect the companies reputation and includes promotion of company events, activities and achievements, community and environmental partnerships and the clients Foundation programs as well as issues and crisis management. Media relations/management is a critical component of the role.


Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Develop and implement proactive and best practice communication strategies to promote the companies events, activities and achievements, community and environmental partnerships, and Alcoa Foundation programs.
  • Protect and enhance the companies reputation through strong media management to achieve on message editorial coverage, minimise negative media coverage. Monitor media coverage on all the companies related issues.
  • Develop and implement digital communications strategies (including social media) to enhance communications efforts.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of proactive (and reactive where required) issues management strategies
  • Support engagement of external stakeholders on priority issues, events, activities, achievements, community and environmental partnerships.
  • Prepare briefing notes, speeches, and communications materials to build engagement.
  • Engage internal stakeholders through the development and implementation of proactive and best practice internal communication strategies for key events, activities, achievements, community and environmental partnerships
  • Utilise suite of existing internal communications tools and seek opportunities to continually improve the effectiveness of these, testing and introducing new channels as required.



    Skills required:
  • Strong all-round capability including project management skills
  • Skills and experience in video production, basic graphic design (desk top publishing) and still photography.
  • Strong verbal, written and communication skills
