We are now seeking a Communications Manager to develop and execute effective communication strategies to support the growth and positioning of Port Macquarie Hastings Council’s core business functions.
Why the team needs you
Working closely with the Executive and Senior Leadership Teams, this key leadership position will provide strategic and best practice communications and corporate affairs advice and services to support the achievement of organisational goals and delivery of strategic objectives. You will also work with senior business leaders to develop a communications program to share their expertise and thought leadership across platforms including social networks, media, and events.
The Communications Manager will lead, support, and coordinate the day-to-day operations to drive operational outcomes and high performance within their team. Through a collaborative approach to team culture, the Communications Manager will coordinate their team’s activities, and lead change and improvement opportunities across their functional areas and ensure comprehensive and innovative best practice outcomes for the Council.

To be successful in this role, you will be a highly motivated, collaborative, and results-driven leader who has proven experience leading and managing diverse teams within a corporate, government or commercial setting.You will be a lateral thinker and be capable of proactively leading change processes.You will initiate and support continuous improvement, as well as develop and implement operational plans to ensure stakeholder relationships and business outcomes are optimised and risk is minimised.

- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar Senior to Mid-level Corporate Communications role including delivering strategic planning for external Communications.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a high performing team of communication professionals
- Extensive experience in developing and executing corporate and internal communications strategies, media management and government relations.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a high performing team of communication professionals.
- Strong influencing, decision making, verbal and written communication skills.
- A strategic, innovative, and best practice mindset.
- An ability to maintain an inclusive and calm approach in a changing and sometimes challenging environment.
