The Opportunity
Chandler Macleod is looking to engage an experienced Respiratory Scientist to join a leading NSW Government Department for a contract term of 6 months.

In this role your primary function would be to provide function tests for customers for the purpose of disability assessment from dust diseases and health monitoring due to exposure to hazardous dusts.

Job Specification

  • Perform lung function tests and provide reports with objective performance commentary and statistical history of results for accurate medical assessment of customers' dust disease.
  • Maintain services for the lung function equipment in accordance with industry standards to ensure high quality results are reported to the Medical Assessment Panel.
  • Attend to customer enquiries regarding medical assessment process and provide information that meets their needs and in line with agency policies and procedures.
  • Liaise with treating doctors to share information which may assist in the assessment and care of Customers.
  • Provide back up for Lung Screen Lead and deliver in-home lung function service using portable testing equipment to facilitate examination of disabled customers with deteriorating health and/or mobility issues and in accordance with agency policies and procedures.
  • Meet appropriate standards of hygiene and follow infection control procedures to ensure health and safety of customers and team is maintained at all times.
  • Prioritise workloads and workflows to ensure service delivery timelines are met.
  • Maintain accurate records and records information systems and functions in accordance with records management policies and procedures and confidentially/privacy requirements.
  • Actively contribute to the continuous improvement of services, including recommending changes to processes, policies and procedures. Engage with icare and DDC Strategic Initiatives.
  • Keep up-to-date knowledge with current practices and standards in the field of Respiratory Science and Work, Health and Safety to maintain high quality customer service.


To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Qualifications in a relevant medical science or health related discipline.
  • Developed understanding of Work Health and Safety legislation and regulations, ATS / ERS / ANZSRS standards and guidelines, DDC infection control procedures and medical terminology.
  • Certified Respiratory Function Scientist (CRFS)[ANZSRS]
