Our Federal Government client is seeking to engage an APS6 Communication Officer on a contract for 12 months with potential extension of 12 months.

About the Role:

Our team manages the NSC website, LinkedIn, Twitter media and events for the National Skills Commissioner. We also work with policy teams to create engaging content and collateral.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Key responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage the organisation's LinkedIn and Twitter channels
  • Support the delivery of communication strategies and activities relating to the future skills needs of Australia.
  • Develop a range of internal and external communication materials and collateral including website content, news items, social media content, website content, parliamentary and ministerial correspondence and reporting and presentations
  • Deliver simple, consistent and engaging messages on technical subject matter
  • Support the development and maintenance of key stakeholder relationships and government stakeholders, including the use of stakeholder engagement tools and reporting

Skills & Experience:

The ideal candidates will be able to demonstrate the following capabilities/experience and/or qualifications:


  • Ability to translate data and analysis into accessible messaging and products
  • Written and verbal communication skills - the ability to deliver clear, concise and compelling messages that are fit for purpose for various audiences.
  • Strong writing and attention to detail and be able to write for a variety of channels and audiences.
  • Highly organised and able to manage the production and distribution of communications materials
  • The ability to respond flexibly to changing priorities in a dynamic work environment and deliver high quality results
  • Strong interpersonal skills - the ability to lead others and work productively as a member of a team
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills and experience in responding to enquiries, establishing and managing stakeholder relationships.
  • Prior experience in leading the development of strategic communications products.


  • Digital communications experience is desirable, including social media and website management.
  • Previous experience working in a technical agency or demonstrated technical writing skill preferred

Mandatory Requirements:

  • The successful candidate will be required to have a Baseline security clearance.
