Our Federal Government client is seeking to engage an APS6 Corporate Communication Officer on a contract until June 2021, with potential extensions of 12 months.

Position Overview

Senior Communication Officers deliver marketing and communication solutions. Working as part of a team, Senior Communication Officers design, develop, implement and evaluate marketing and communication strategies and content. They provide best practice advice to stakeholders and may also undertake research, event management and project management.

Senior Communication Officers work under the limited direction of senior staff, exercising both initiative and judgement in the interpretation of policy and in the application of practices and procedures. Decision making is substantially dependent on judgement, skills and knowledge. They manage and organise their own work in the context of competing priorities, including contributing to business planning, changes in workplace practices and business improvement strategies.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • design, develop, implement and evaluate content, strategies and products
  • provide specialist advice and interpretation on processes, guidelines and policies
  • liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure positive outcomes
  • collaborate with stakeholders, to resolve sensitive issues and/or escalate for resolution
  • scope stakeholder requirements
  • schedule, coordinate and publish communication content
  • prepare draft written material including reports, briefs and corporate documentation
  • proof and edit content
  • develop and support stakeholder relationships to deliver communication outputs
  • coordinate and manage the approvals process, adhering to timeframes
  • monitor, manage and report on progress to assist local management to manage overall performance
  • contribute to business and strategic planning
  • represent the agency by promoting its interests at community and cross-agency levels
  • develop and implement business improvement and best practice
  • support and mentor staff, including coaching and training to build knowledge and capability
  • exercise delegations appropriate to role in accordance with legislation and guidelines.

Mandatory Requirements:

  • The successful candidate will be required to have (or be able to obtain and maintain) a Baseline clearance.
