Our Federal Government client is seeking to engage a Communication Officer on a non-ongoing contract for 12 months.

Position Overview

Our Client is seeking an experienced Communications Manager to provide strategic communications advice and deliver program communication products. They will be required to work collaboratively with scientific staff working on the program, and the organisation's existing communication function

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • work closely and collaboratively with the Positioning Australia Senior Leadership Team, Positioning Australia Program Management Office and Positioning Australia Engagement Team Lead to deliver program communication products, providing direction on best-practice communication approaches, issues management, stakeholder engagement, and reputation management
  • Act as the lead contact for communication strategy and services for science staff working on the program, and for the organisation's existing communication function
  • continuously evaluate the effectiveness and impact of communication (strategy and products), adjusting the approach as appropriate
  • build and maintain relationships with a broad range of stakeholders (internal and external to the organisation, across public and private spheres).

Skills & Experience:

  • highly developed communication account management skills (spanning strategy development, implementation, iteration and evaluation)
  • highly developed planning and coordination skills, including an ability to manage competing priorities and work to tight deadlines
  • highly developing writing skills, with experience developing and delivering engaging content via a range of mediums, including (but not limited to) speeches, scripts, newsletters, media releases and talking points, web and social media, and multimedia, tailoring communication style and language according to the audience's level of knowledge, skill and experience
  • demonstrated success communicating with a range of audiences, and in building and maintaining effective relationships with key stakeholders, that are internal and external to your organisation, sit across public and private spheres, and possess varied levels of technical understanding
  • build and sustain relationships; liaise with a range of stakeholders including other teams, peers and colleagues across the organisation, and in other organisations
  • adhere to the Australian Public Service Values and Code of Conduct and consistently behave in an honest, ethical and professional way.

Mandatory Requirements:

  • The successful candidate will be required to have a Baseline security clearance.
