Our client, one of Australia's leading resources companies, is seeking to engage a Perth-based (Senior) Classified Plant Engineer with occasional visits. Reporting to the Principal Mechanical Engineer this role will provide technical leadership on classified plant across Pilbara operations.


This is a key senior engineering role within the mining giant, so the candidate will need to provide leadership, guidance and support to all levels within the business.

The Classified Plant Engineer will be responsible for:

  • Developing, revising and interpreting FMG standards for classified plant compliance
  • Develop, implementing and managing online training packages
  • Develop, implementing and managing software to manage classified plant compliance.
  • Communicate the requirements for classified plant compliance across the business
  • Engage with stakeholders within the business to ensure our standards, training and software meeting the business requirements.
  • Provide technical support for the site teams on an ad-hock basis as an inhouse technical expert
  • Develop and manage a technical auditing program
  • Conducting audits on site to measure compliance across all sites
  • Reporting on classified plant compliance levels to management
  • Mentoring of junior engineers
  • Performing ad-hock general engineering duties to support the Perth engineering team during busy periods
  • This role will require ad-hock visits to sites in the Pilbara


The right candidate will have:

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or structural engineering
  • Preferably 15-20 years post graduate experience
  • Extensive technical experience in either pressure equipment or cranes.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Mines Regulations.
  • Experience on site in iron ore mining.
  • A can-do attitude
