Our Federal Government client is seeking to engage a Change Manager on a contract for 6 months with potential extension.

About the Role:

This role will work across the FOT and strategic projects to support business areas to:

  • to bring together all the Future Operations activity and develop a consistent and coherent narrative for agency about the changes currently underway and planned for into the future.
  • prepare for and manage change events with a focus on the people side of change. This will potentially include changes to business processes, systems, job roles and any associated activities. The primary responsibility will be creating and implementing change management strategies and plans that optimise employee adoption and usage and minimise negative resistance.

The FOT Change Manager will deliver faster adoption, higher ultimate utilisation of and proficiency with the changes that impact employees across Operations Division and agency more broadly. While this role will not have supervisory responsibility, it will have to leverage existing resources and expertise in the organisation to succeed.

This role will provide direct support to the FOT leadership team and potentially agency leaders, managers and supervisors as they work to bring their teams through any agreed transition. The role will also support project teams in integrating change management activities into their project plans.

Major areas of Responsibility:

  • Apply a structured methodology and lead change management activities
  • Assess the change impact and create a change and communications plan to support adoption of the changes required by the program.
  • Support the design, development, delivery and management of communications.
  • Conduct impact analyses, assess change readiness and identify key stakeholders.
  • Identify and manage anticipated resistance
  • Work closely with senior stakeholders to ensure the change program is pragmatic and achieves the desired outcomes
  • Create actionable deliverables for the five change management levers: communications plan, sponsor roadmap, coaching plan, training plan, resistance management plan
  • Support and engage senior leaders
  • Coach coordinators and supervisors
  • Coordinate efforts with other specialists
  • Evaluate and ensure user readiness
  • Manage stakeholders
  • Define and measure success metrics and monitor change progress and track and report progress against the plan
  • Commit to the agency Code of Conduct and Values

Pre-requisites required:

To be successful in this position you must have the following:

  • A minimum of 5 years' experience as a change and communications agent (or similar) in a government agency
  • A thorough knowledge of change principles, processes, behaviours and skills necessary to effectively identify, manage, initiate and influence change, and manage and support others through it
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build good relationships with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to create and implement engagement and communication strategies.
  • Demonstrated strong analytical skills and ability to develop strategies to meet organisational change needs, and evaluate their effectiveness
  • Able to interpret and translate programme values into operational decisions; consistently applies values and communicates these to others
  • Strong influencing and relationship-building skills; able to identify and work with stakeholders; evidence of network building and driving change through others
  • Ability to be flexible within role, applying innovation and creativity approaches in their work with a good attention to detail
  • Good Project Management experience and skills are advantageous
