Our Federal Government client is seeking to engage an EL1 Assistant Manager - WHS on a contract for 6 Months, with potential extension.

Position Overview

The Safety and Case team consists of highly capable case managers and HR strategists that work across a range of HR Functions including:

  • case management including but not limited to, managing underperformance, workplace behaviour, code of conduct, compensable injuries, reviews of action
  • driving change through the department's performance management system and policy
  • development, implementation and management of Work Health & Safety, wellbeing and mental health strategies
  • projects stemming from departmental trends and workforce planning gap analysis as required

The successful applicant will contribute to the department's success in the critical area of employee health and performance and achieving positive outcomes across critical people management areas.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • understand and interpret relevant legislation and policy
  • proactively support departmental managers and supervisors in the management of staffing matters including, performance management, code of conduct, absence management, staff terminations, workplace behaviours, review of action and actively develop and maintain working relationships across the organisation and externally with employers and stakeholders
  • analyse and report on individual case management and/or issues in relation to staffing matters
  • assist in the development of policies and procedures that support the management of employee performance, behaviours and wellbeing
  • conduct presentations on Human Resource policies and processes at staff forums and to members of Executive.

Our Ideal Candidate will have:

  • experience in managing complex staffing matters within a large organisation
  • a high level of organisational ability, good professional judgement and excellent interpersonal/liaison skills
  • the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, in an accurate, unambiguous and timely manner
  • a proven ability to work cooperatively as part of a team
  • a proven ability to be self-directed.

Mandatory Requirements:

  • The successful candidate will be required to have a Baseline clearance.
  • Must have at least 2 years' experience and/or relevant qualifications.
