Business Support Officer

This role will provide business support for the Water & Gas Field Services (W&GFS) team, working with 5 operational managers and around 100 team members altogether. Your role will ensure contracts are delivered at optimal levels, and business requirements are achieved in a safe, compliant, and commercially astute manner. This will include analysis, development and maintenance of work practices and procedures which support the team in the field, support office and ensuring Health Safety Environment and Quality (HSEQ) standards are met.

The person will be familiar with working and communicating with field workers.


  • Ensuring that the W&GFS Compliance Database is up to date with the compliance items below:
  • Licences & Tickets (expiration dates not exceeded)
  • Training and Refresher Training
  • Audit Schedule and Results
  • Non-conformance tracking and resolutions (internal and external)
  • Developing monthly compliance reports for all operational managers.
  • Managing the W&GFS Training Budget and developing a yearly Training Program that addresses both the compliance requirements in conjunction with the operational needs.
  • Managing the suite of software programs utilised by the W&GFS group.
  • Facilitating the development, maintenance and continuous improvement for all standard operating procedures, work instructions, Inductions, JSA's, Prestarts, Audit checklists and SWMS for the W&GFS group.
  • Identify and lead improvement opportunities that focus on increasing operational efficiencies and reducing operational expenditure.
  • Developing and implanting all internal online training requirements.
  • Participate in all internal and external HSEQ audits.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with all relevant stakeholders, including customers, regulators, partners and vendors, ensuring a high level of stakeholder satisfaction.

Skills and Experience

  • Must have OH&S / Safety / Worksafe experience in an Advisory / Officer capacity or similar
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong relationship building skills demonstrated by effectively influencing employees and key stakeholders at all levels.
  • Experience in financial analysis and identification of operational improvements.
  • Strong customer focus.
  • Excellent negotiation skills.
  • Technical competencies required to proficiently use information technology tools and applications (including the Microsoft 365 suite).
