Our Federal Government client is seeking to engage a Business Analyst on a contract for 12 months.

Position Overview

Main duties:

  • Complete requirement elicitation through workshop facilitation, stakeholder interviews and deliver engaging presentations
  • Analyse, interpret and compose business rules and requirements into functional specifications, acceptance criteria and other technical documents including offering specialist advice in the context of the solution design and business process improvement
  • Conduct and assist with definition, analysis and testing of business systems including the investigation and resolution of application system problems
  • Prepare, document and quality review workflows for new or enhanced systems
  • Provide a conduit between DHA's business areas and the software development team whilst working in a multi-disciplinary design and development team including subject matter experts, developers, testers and project managers


Essential criteria

  • Demonstrated experience as a Business Analyst throughout the Software Delivery Life-cycle and an understanding of the value that this role provides.
  • Strong ability to complete requirements gathering and stakeholder engagement using a variety of in-person and remote techniques such as presentations, workshop facilitation, virtual whiteboards, visual models and verbal communication.
  • Demonstrated experience creating artefacts to support the Software Delivery Life-cycle including creation of use cases and user journeys, mapping of current and future state business process, development of user stories including acceptance criteria with the ability to apply and translate business system knowledge into technical requirements
  • Experience working collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team to create human-centered design solutions including wireframes, prototypes and detailed technical specifications.
  • Demonstrated ability to critically analyse business as usual processes and suggest improvements which do not require system changes
  • Excellent presentation, verbal communication, workshop facilitation and writing skills

Desirable criteria

  • Demonstrated experienced in Human Resource system implementation and/or Human Resource process redesign and modelling experience
  • Demonstrated experience in SharePoint and OneDrive implementation
