Chandler Macleod have an upcoming 6-month temporary assignment (possible extension) with our Federal Government client for Technical Officers. This assignment is conveniently located in Netley and on a Monday to Friday roster, full time hours with possible overtime.

The Role
The project for GRN Radios replacement requires the services of suitably qualified resources to ensure timely replacement outcomes within the project whilst balancing operational effectiveness and the management of commissioning, scheduling and booking across the clients Fleet and PrixCar service based at Radio and Traffic Support Unit (RTSU).

The Technical Officer (Electronics) is required to contribute to the effective operation of RTSU, by ensuring that:

  • Assist with commissioning, scheduling and bookings across Fleet, PrixCar and RTSU
  • Perform technical identification, diagnosis and rectification for all voice communication and mobile data faults that are presented in the client's vehicles
  • Assist and participate in other workshop duties as directed
  • Works closely with Fleet Operations and Prixcar members to ensure timely changeover of fleets
  • Works closely with other members of RTSU, Customer Service Branch and IS&T Service
  • Ensure accurate and timely recording of voice communication and mobile data assets in the client's Enterprise Asset Management System (EAMS)
  • Ensure a contribution is made to a safe and healthy work environment, free from discrimination and harassment by working in accordance with legislative requirements, the Code of Conduct and departmental human resource policies, including EEO and OHS&W

The Technical Officer is accountable for the provision of effective first level ICT advice and support to all areas of the client, providing a customer centric function to support end users to effectively utilise technology to undertake their role.

  • Contribute to the effective service delivery of the service by providing resolution of service requests
  • Contribute to providing a high level of customer satisfaction with all RTSU customers

    Essential Requirements
  • Liaising with technical personnel to ensure a wide information base for resolution of technical and operational problems
  • Contribute to the Service's continuous improvement through identifying areas for improvement

The following essential requirements identified for these resources are:

  • Experience in the use of an Asset Management System and or similar data entry systems and apply a high level of accuracy in the input of data or information
  • Ability to work both autonomously and as a member of a team
  • Installing, repairing, testing and maintaining auto electrical and electronic components, 2 way voice, mobile communication devices and associated components
  • Demonstrated good communication and relationship building skills
  • Ability to organise and prioritise work

Ability to operate effectively under pressure and within limited time constraints


  • Motor Trades qualification specializing in auto electrical systems.
  • An Electronics Trades certificate specializing in two-way voice communications.
  • Automotive Mobile Data Systems highly desirable but not essential
