We are currently seeking an experienced Audit and Assurance Officer for a local Government agency.

  • Start date: ASAP
  • Rate of pay: Subject to experience
  • Role end date: February 2022
  • Location: Wanneroo

Hours: Hours of work will generally be between 8.00am and 5.30pm, Monday to Friday, working a minimum of seventy six (76) hours per fortnight, as negotiated

The role:

This position, reporting to the Enterprise Risk Specialist, is to provide expert and independent audit assurance in respect of the City's risk, governance and internal control processes are operating effectively.

  • This position is critical to ensuring organisational processes and controls are efficient and effective to respond to the significant growth and expansion in services and infrastructure that the City is experiencing.
  • This position will be required to work across all levels and sections of the organisation undertaking independent Internal Audits and Assessments to determine the effectiveness of internal controls and processes and recommending appropriate improvements including the preparation of reports to the City's Audit and Risk Committee.
  • This role will provide advice and guidance to business units to improve and strengthen their internal controls and risk management processes.
  • One of the key areas of responsibility will include working closely with the City's Internal Auditors, managing the internal audit plan including documentation, identifying controls and performing tests for effectiveness and efficiencyRepresenting the City in an honest, ethical and professional way
  • Demonstrating high and proactive concern for health, safety, environment, community and the City's reputation.
  • Ability to work proactively with minimal supervision.

Experience/ Skills Required

  • As a collaborative member of the Enterprise Risk Management team, the position is accountable for the work relating to Internal Audit.
  • The successful appointee must be an adaptable, experienced and qualified person.
  • Must also thrive working in a very busy and change driven organisation.
  • Tertiary qualifications in internal auditing,
  • Accounting or business together with experience in internal auditing, planning and implementation are required
  • Highly developed communication and analytical skills.
  • Experienced in working within a compliance environment and in making recommendations on improvements to systems and processes
