Our Federal Government client is seeking to engage a Assistant Forester on a contract for 10 months with potential extension.
Position Overview

DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist foresters to implement forest planning, information management and operational tasks across all aspects of silviculture, harvesting and marketing of products and services including timber and social values of the forest.
  • Use MS Office, mobile technology and several specialist software packages (training will be provided) to plan and report on forest treatments at a site specific level. Software packages include:
    o Spatial Planning and Report Query System (SPARQS)
    o Forest Inventory Resource System (FIRS) and
    o Forest Inventory Resource System data capture (FIRS/DC)
  • Contribute to operational management and implementation of Workplace Health and Safety programs and the Respect Equity and Diversity framework.
  • Maintain records in accordance with the Territory Records Act 2002.
  • Work within the ACTPS Code of Conduct and ACTPS values of respect, integrity, collaboration and innovation, and model behaviour consistent with the ACTPS Respect Equity and Diversity framework.
  • This position does not involve direct supervision of staff.

    Qualifications/Requirements
    Mandatory:
  • Attending forest related studies (Environmental science, Environmental management, Forestry, etc.) at any Australian University or tertiary institution, or hold a Bachelor or Master degree in any of these disciplines.
  • Australian drivers licence.
