Our client is seeking to engage a Group Assistant Financial Accountant. This is a permanent Role and located in Sydney CBD (Hybrid and Flexible work Module).

Position Overview

The primary objective of this role is ensuring the business complies with all tax legislation and involves the timely and accurate preparation of paperwork for tax payments and tax returns. The role requires a strong focus on the numbers and attention to detail, ensuring the group meets its tax regulatory & compliance imperatives.

This role provides a great opportunity for a candidate who not only wants role specific tasks they will own end to end but will thrive working together on many tasks as a team. Ongoing project and process improvement work is a strong focus for the team.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assisting of all Direct and Indirect (such as FBT, Payroll Tax, GST, PAYG, transfer pricing) tax matters for the organisation
  • Assisting preparation paperwork for tax payments and returns
  • Assisting in workers compensation analysis & reporting
  • Completion of monthly accruals & journals
  • Completion of month end closing and reporting tasks
  • Organising and updating the company's tax records
  • Keep up to date with changes to the taxation legislation
  • Liaising with the Australian Taxation Office (ATO), auditors and regulatory bodies when required
  • Ad hoc projects and process improvement

Our Ideal candidate will have:

  • Previous exposure to Australian taxation requirements, including corporate tax, payroll tax, FBT, GST & superannuation
  • Excellent time management skills
  • High level of attention to detail and multitasking
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking
  • Professional interpersonal and relationship skills including excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • computer software skills, including Excel and other accounting packages

As the successful candidate, you will be a degree qualified Assistant Accountant/Finance officer, be part or fully qualified CA or CPA together with 2-3 years commercial experience together with tax exposure.
