Our Federal Government client is seeking to engage a Assistant Director, Records Management (Records Manager) on a contract for 6 months with potential extension.

Position Overview

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Under limited direction the Records Manager will:

  • Develop and manage TCCS's electronic and physical records management policies, practices, and program to ensure accurate creation, retention, retrieval, access to and disposal of records in an electronic environment that complies with the Territory Records Act 2002.
  • Manage electronic and physical record storage and disposal practices to ensure least cost options while ensuring compliance with best practice electronic recordkeeping standards.
  • Monitor and report on the Directorate's compliance with the records management program and the Territory Records Act 2002, and show leadership and proactively develop strategies to promote good records management in TCCS.
  • Provide leadership, direction and guidance as manager of the Records Management and Objective team, exercising sound people management skills.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders including the Territory Records Office and ACT Records Services.
  • Actively track and report project deliverables to senior managers and executives and ensure progress and compliance with the TCCS records management program.
  • Maintain a training program on records management and deliver training on records management.
  • Engage with senior executives and managers on Records matters and, in collaboration with the Senior Director, Governance, provide coaching, guidance and support to enhance their understanding of effective organisational change.
  • Contribute to the leadership, direction and guidance of the Governance team exercising sound relationship and engagement skills, including managing and leading junior staff.
  • Represent the Directorate at relevant meetings and fora, including Digital Records Working Group Committee, Objective Administrator Forum and Records and Information Management Community of Practice Meeting (RIMCoP).
  • Undertake, lead and support other governance projects as required and to support business unit needs, and undertake other tasks ad directed.

WHAT YOU REQUIRE

The following capabilities form the criteria that are required to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop, implement and monitor records management policies and practices, including through proficient use of an Electronic Document Records Management System, in accordance with the requirements of the Territory Records Act 2002.
  • Demonstrated staff management experience, including the ability to plan and deliver team priorities and objectives and work within a high performing and diverse team with a positive team culture.
  • High level written, oral and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to liaise effectively with clients and colleagues to build productive working relationships and an environment of high-quality customer service.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and deliver staff training, including development of training resources, and delivery of high-quality training sessions relating to records management, including electronic records management.
  • Demonstrated understanding and commitment to the TCCS Values framework, workplace respect, equity and diversity framework, workplace health and safety best practise and industrial democracy principles and practise.

COMPLIANCE REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS

  • Relevant tertiary or other qualifications in recordkeeping are highly desirable.
  • Experience with Electronic Document and Records Management Systems (e.g., Objective) and record keeping systems is essential.
