About the Role:

As an Assistant Director in Public Affairs you will work in the Communications and Marketing team to find solutions to the delivery of key Organisational Goals. You will ensure a high quality and consistent approach to these solutions and take responsibility for managing the design, development, implementation, budget and evaluation of marketing and communication strategies and content.

What your duties will include:

  • lead and support the development and delivery of content, strategies and products
  • lead and manage staff including overseeing the management of performance, attendance and health and wellbeing
  • provide expert communication advice and feedback to the agency's executive
  • liaise and manage relationships with key stakeholders to ensure positive outcomes
  • resolve and/or escalate sensitive issues that adversely impact on the agency
  • scope stakeholder requirements, negotiate and develop appropriate strategies
  • prepare and review written material including business cases, reports and executive briefs and corporate documentation
  • develop and manage key stakeholder relationships and expectations to deliver
  • communication outputs
  • report on the achievement of business outcomes, key performance indicators and quality
  • assurance to manage overall performance
  • determine strategic direction for the work area aligned to agency goals and objectives
  • represent and explain the views of the agency at cross-agency meetings and other forums
  • assist in the development and implementation of strategies, operational policy and
  • procedures and change initiatives
  • develop staff capability through coaching, mentoring and succession planning
  • exercise delegations appropriate to role in accordance with legislation and guidelines.

What you will bring to the role:

  • At least 5 within the Communications and Marketing Management Space
  • Qualifications, demonstrated experience or passion relevant to the field
  • Experience within the Public Sector is highly regarded
  • Strong management skills and experience at a Management level for at least 2-3 years is essential
  • Experience in public affairs, communications and delivery of information is crucial for this role.
  • Strong ability to assist stakeholders in resolution of issues and deliver effective communication outcomes
