Our client is an independent agency of Federal Government, this major agency enables a scheme that supports Australians with costs associated to disability.

About the Role:
This is an excellent opportunity for a highly experience and senior Policy professional who is seeking their next step in their career. As an Assistant Director you will exercise sound decision making and demonstrate strong problem solving skills to provide high level policy advice and operational support. This role has a focus on the coordination and assumption of responsibility to undertake detailed and sensitive projects that impact the strategic and operational outcomes that support the agencies objectives.

Key responsibilities:

  • Developing and interpreting policy while maintaining an understanding and consideration of sensitive organisational and political issues
  • Analysing data to develop and implement policy documents for review and publication
  • Preparing and reviewing draft policy reports, briefing papers, speeches, Ministerial responses, and discussion papers for presentation to senior staff
  • Incorporating risk and implementation considerations in policy development
  • Overseeing, maintaining and analysing policy initiatives

About you:

  • Previous experience in a similar role under Australian rules and regulations
  • Relevant qualifications in Policy, Public Policy, Politics
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels and provide written reports through to the board
  • A strong sense of professionalism whilst dealing with sensitive information
