Our Federal Government client is seeking to engage an EL1 Assistant Director on a Permanent Employment.

About the Role:

The Assistant Director, Governance, Audit and Planning oversees the preparation of the Agency's core governance and planning documents, including those required under the Safe Work Australia Act 2008 (Cth) and the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act (PGPA Act) 2013 (Cth).

The role also has responsibility for the Agency's project management framework and ensures the Agency meets it obligations in relation to internal audit and oversight and works with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the Agency's audit program is progressed.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • The Assistant Director, Governance, Audit and Planning oversees the preparation of the Agency's core governance and planning documents, including those required under the Safe Work Australia Act 2008 (Cth) and the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act (PGPA Act) 2013 (Cth).
  • The role also has responsibility for the Agency's project management framework and ensures the Agency meets it obligations in relation to internal audit and oversight and works with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the Agency's audit program is progressed.

Skills & Experience:

  • preparing, maintaining and providing strategic advice on the governance framework for the Agency, including Portfolio Budget Statements, Corporate and Operational Plans, the Agency Work Plan and the Annual Performance Statement
  • managing the internal audit contract and program, including liaison with the Agency's internal audit partners
  • providing secretariat support to the Audit Committee, including liaison with the external Audit Committee Members, to ensure both the Committee and the Agency meet their obligations under the PGPA Act
  • maintaining the Project Management Office and preparing Members' Dashboard reports
  • assisting with the Agency's Secretariat function as required
  • maintaining knowledge and awareness of the Agency's core policy work, emerging issues and stakeholder priorities in order to contribute strategically to key discussions and briefing and to inform planning and performance reporting, and
  • maintaining knowledge and awareness of WoAG requirements and process as they relate to the role and providing advice and briefing in relation to these matters.

Key Relationships:

  • Internal stakeholders at all levels across the Agency, including the Executive, and
  • External stakeholders including Members and their staff, the Attorney-General's Department, the Department of Finance, Audit Committee members and service providers including the Agency's audit partners (ANAO and KPMG).

Education and experience:

  • No specific qualifications are required, however experience in a similar role and an excellent understanding of the Microsoft Office suite, Windows 10 operating environment, HPE Content Manager and SafetyDocs are extremely advantageous.
  • Sound knowledge of the PGPA Act is required.
