Our Federal Government Client is seeking to engage a Governance & Policy Officer - EL1 on an initial contract for 12 months, with potential extensions.

Position Overview

The role's key focus is to lead the development, management and delivery of corporate reporting products and systems, ensuring compliance with legislative obligations. It also leads and coordinates overarching systems of internal control.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Lead delivery of corporate reporting systems. This includes planning, research, architecture development, system implementation, system maintenance, reporting on and continuously improving a diverse and complex suite of corporate performance reporting, governance, a system of internal control, risk and other services.
  • Provide subject matter expertise and support senior team members and operational work areas in managing agency corporate reporting systems, governance systems, systems of internal control, risk and their associated compliance regimes.
  • Cultivate strategic, high level, relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support the Director, Governance Services in the delivery of effective, efficient, high-quality organisational outcomes.

Mandatory Requirements:

  • Extensive corporate governance knowledge and experience, in a commonwealth context.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in efficient, cost-effective, policy and procedure development, maintenance and assurance.
  • Experience managing and leading a team.
  • Commonwealth experience, risk experience and with writing skills to support policy writing
  • Desirable: tertiary qualifications in risk management, governance, fraud control, business continuity and/or Insurance, especially as they relate to public sector management.
  • Desirable: Membership of professional organisations involved in risk management or risk-related activities, systems of internal control and/or performance reporting.
