Our Federal Government client is seeking to engage an Assistant Director - Finance on a contract for 12 Months.

Position Overview

The Assistant Director, Finance is the central finance contact officer for our client and works closely with a number of stakeholders to manage the financial obligations. The officer coordinates regional and national inputs into the Budget and takes the lead on analysing client's financial information and providing strategic advice and solutions to the National Management team.

The officer is a member of the Planning and Operations section and is responsible for the financial functions that support the delivery of counselling activities and related functions within the service. The officer will also undertake other tasks within the Planning and Operations team as directed to support the efficient operations of the service.

The duties of this position require the officer to work cooperatively across regions and with other areas of the client and communicate with other government employees and representatives of non-government organisations.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • External Budget administration
    • liaise with other Branch Finance Managers for Program 2.5 funding; and
    • Liaise with External Budget section.
  • Internal Budgeting development
    • Coordinate and provide strategic input to the internal budget processes and timeframes within client;
    • provide advice on the establishment of realistic and achievable budgets to the National Manager;
    • coordination of budget change requests and management of the review and approval process;
    • provide financial advice and support to Regional Directors and National Directors with regard to their internal budget; and
    • liaise with Directors and Regional Clinical Practice Managers assisting in resolving any inconsistencies and issues as they arise.
  • Reporting and Forecasting
    • Undertake financial analysis and management of monthly financial reporting;
    • Provide strategic financial advice with the management of forecasting, budget changes, pressures and impacts on a monthly basis, including reporting of these to the Resources Branch;
    • Brief the National Manager on monthly variance analysis;
    • forecasting budget changes, pressures and impacts on a monthly basis, in consultation with directors;
    • reporting of variances and forecasting to the Business Support Services Division; and
    • provide strategic financial advice to the National Manager, Deputy National Manager, Assistant National Manager and Directors.
  • Develop and maintain budget and financial procedures, templates and models.
  • Other duties as directed by supervisor to support the efficient operations of the service.

Mandatory Requirements:

  • The successful applicant is required to have extensive experience in financial management accounting.
