About the project
The Assistant Director will help embed rigorous evaluation across the organisation and help develop theory of change, logic models, evaluation frameworks and provide exert advice to business units undertaking evaluation.

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Managing and delivering strategic evaluations
  • Leading the development of logic models and monitoring and evaluation frameworks for other programs
  • Supervise Senior Research and Evaluation Officers to collect, analyse and report quantitate and qualitative data
  • Enhance the use of evidence-informed practice in delivering outcomes
  • Shape and maintain relationships and partnerships with external research bodies, including specialist agencies and relevant academic and technical experts
  • Developing and implementing theory of change/program logic models, monitoring and evaluation frameworks and project plans
  • Preparing and implementing surveys, focus groups and interviews
  • Preparing and presenting high-quality evaluation reports, journal articles and conference presentations
  • Maintaining a risk register for evaluation projects, including identifying and implementing risk mitigation strategies in conjunction with the Director of Evaluation

To be considered for this position;

You MUST provide a cover letter/statement of claims addressing each of the selection criteria below:

  • Relevant honours degree and/or post graduate qualification from a recognised university and/or relevant experience.
  • Experience managing and delivering evaluations of complex programs, interventions or services.
  • Experience applying a range of evaluation and social research designs and methods.
  • Experience developing theory of change/program logic models and evaluation frameworks.
  • Experience collecting, managing and analysing qualitative and/or quantitative data.
  • High-level computer literacy, including the ability to use software packages as required for data management and analysis, such as R, Stata or NVivo.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to practically apply theoretical principles and techniques to solve problems.
  • Exceptional communication skills, including a proven ability to produce a range of clear, succinct evaluation reports and interact with diverse colleagues, clients and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated organisational skills, including the ability to set priorities, manage time, plan work to meet deadlines and work effectively under pressure.
  • Demonstrated awareness of the principles of confidentiality, privacy and information handling.
