Our Federal Government client is seeking to engage a Assistant Director, Contracts and Procurement on a contract for 3 months.

Position Overview

The Assistant Director, Contracts & Procurement will assist in the development, delivery and management of contracts for ACTCS. This will include providing advice, guidance, and support to officers within ACTCS.

The Assistant Director, Contracts & Procurement will develop, implement and refine procedures for contract management and the administration of contracts to ensure consistency and performance in the delivery of services and will monitor and report on the application of contract key performance indicators and related processes and apply strategies to address and improve any identified gaps.

The Assistant Director, Contracts & Procurement will also build productive working relationships to achieve individual, team and organisational objectives. This includes undertaking a range of procurement and contract management activities, such as, contract negotiation, contract management and deliverable assessment

Main Duties

Under the limited direction of the Director, Finance & Business Services, the Assistant Director, Contracts & Procurement will:

  • Manage and monitor existing contracts for various requirements within ACTCS, and assist in the development and establishment of new contracts.
  • Conduct regular meetings with the contractor management/supervisors for the contracts, assess services performance against contract key performance indicators (KPIs), service level agreements (SLAs) and milestones, and provide regular updates and reports to the manager and executive.
  • Further develop the business area through leading and establishing improved ways of thinking, engaging and delivering. This includes compliance with relevant policy frameworks.
  • Review, monitor and oversee maintenance contract deliverables and assess contractor claims for services, including any that may fall outside contract provisions.
  • Manage and prioritise service requirements, undertake rectification verification, and review systems performance with respect to preventative maintenance undertaken.
  • Schedule and manage life cycle asset replacement, which occur within the contract term

Professional / Technical Skills and Knowledge

  • Demonstrated experience or background in contract management.
  • Demonstrated project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple stakeholders, balance competing deadlines and priorities, and respond to change.
  • Demonstrated experience in interpreting and complying with frameworks, guidelines and other legislative requirements in relation to procurement, contract management and/or risk management.

Behavioural Capabilities

  • High level organisational skills, including the ability toeffectively manage multiple tasks, determine priorities and meet timeframes and required deadlines while adhering to required policy and/or legislation.
  • Demonstrated experience in establishing and maintaining strong professional relationships with stakeholders and suppliers, including the ability to effectively manage enquiries, issues, disputes, variations, risks and negotiations.

Ability to work autonomously and in a team.
