Our Federal Government client is seeking to engage an APS6 Senior Rehabilitation Advisor on a Non Ongoing 12 months contract and Section 26 transfers.

Position Overview

Ideal candidate:
We are looking for someone who:

Duties & Responsibilities:
This role is required to arrange and coordinate more complex cases of rehabilitation and return to work strategies for ill and injured employees by:
  • establishing a rehabilitation need and potential for return to work
  • engaging and managing a Comcare approved workplace rehabilitation provider to deliver the return to work services where required
  • coordinating fitness for duty and invalidity assessments where required
  • assisting and guiding staff through the Comcare claims process
  • coordinating the development of a return to work plan
  • influencing the progress of a return-to-work plan and ensuring all parties fulfil their responsibilities
  • assisting to source and negotiate job placements for injured employees, both internal and external to the department
  • consulting with the Assistant Director and relevant stakeholders on compensable claims where they are complex and/or high cost, involve reconsiderations or AAT appeals
  • identifying and referring cases containing broader people/policy issues to relevant people teams for attention and action
  • coordinating case closure and providing post return to work support
  • preparing correspondence including reports and submissions.
  • Collect, monitor and provide reports on a range of indicators (such as claims and provider costs, early intervention, case management outcomes etc), and develop and implement business improvement strategies.
  • Provide training, specialist advice and support to employees and managers on rehabilitation related policies and procedures, including interpretation and implementation of policy.
  • Collate and file documents/correspondence and maintain work area records in accordance with agency and legislative requirements.
  • Represent the team, work area and/or the department at internal and external forums.
  • Supervise, coach and mentor APS 5 Rehabilitation Case Managers is applicable, including management of performance/underperformance, attendance, learning and development and the allocation of work.
  • Foster and manage complex relationships with and between, multiple internal and external stakeholders in order to support and facilitate them through the rehabilitation process.
Additional requirements include:
  • Contribute to deliverables of 2023-24 business plan.
  • Undertake role, administration and duties in accordance 2023-24 expectations.
  • Undertake identified strategic projects.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement for efficiency and productivity improvements
Mandatory Requirements:
  • Applicants must be Australian Citizens.
  • The position requires a Baseline security clearance. The successful applicants will be required to obtain and maintain a clearance at this level.
