We are currently searching for an experienced APS6 Risk Advisor to join a leading Federal Government agency, for an 18 month contract with possible extension located in the heart of Richmond.

About the Team

The Risk Enablement team supports the Risk Owners to identify and manage the risks & controls inherent in their operating activities and strategic initiatives. They assist the Agency groups with designing and monitoring controls to mitigate risks and facilitate improved risk awareness and training, reporting on emerging risk profiles and trends.

About the Role

The APS6 Risk Advisory - Risk Enablement will be responsible for tasks including:

  • Developing and implementing mitigation strategies in conjunction with business representatives by evaluating business initiatives and projects.
  • Drafting and providing information to maintain risk policies, plans, frameworks and guidelines to provide awareness on risk management best practices.
  • Preparing and reviewing a range of written material including reports and corporate documentation.
  • Assisting in monitoring KRI's, risk appetite and tolerance, and assisting with the implementation of corrective action plans to mitigate risks.
  • Maintaining accurate risk and compliance data/registers within the Agency Risk Management System.
  • Identifying and extracting risk and mitigation data to enhance insight into business activity.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to develop comprehensive risk profiles for projects and work streams.
  • Managing relationships with delegated Business portfolio, providing advice and communicating key issues and areas of risk to relevant stakeholders.

About You:

Our ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate:

  • Experience within a similar role, within the public sector is desirable
  • Demonstrated team player with the ability to provide a mentor role within the team
  • Experience building relationships with internal and external stakeholders and well developed written and oral communications
  • Competent and experienced reporting to senior executives regarding risk issues utilising Microsoft Suite including SharePoint and Excel
  • Ability to respond and prioritise competing and often urgent requests
  • Demonstrated experience working within a complex and rapidly changing environment
  • Project management, fraud risk identification and analysis experience (highly desirable)
