About the role:
The APS6 Rehabilitation Case Manager will be part of the Workplace Health, Safety and Support Team that provides leadership, advice and support in health case management. This includes injury prevention and management, early intervention, rehabilitation, workplace adjustments and support for employees with disability. You will be responsible for undertaking a range of procedural, operational and administrative activities within a HR environment. Additionally, you will be responsible for the provision of efficient, accurate advice and assistance to employees with work and non-work-related injuries to return to work in a safe, timely and sustainable manner.
Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
- Provide sound advice to clients and stakeholders regarding Early Intervention, Compensation and related HR issues.
- Work collaboratively with stakeholders to support the Early Intervention and Compensation Case Management frameworks.
- Resolve problems using knowledge and experience and take the initiative to identify alternative courses of action.
- Interpret and apply legislation, policy, agreements and guidelines to recommend solutions to address Early Intervention and Case Management issues.
- Initiate, co-ordinate and monitor an injured or ill employee’s workplace rehabilitation program.
- Connect and coordinate people involved in the return-to-work process.
- Promote the health benefits of good work, early intervention and the organisation’s return to work approach.
- Assist the Agency to provide suitable employment for injured or ill employees.
- Co-ordinate the employer's responses to requests for information about the employee, their injury or illness, and their rehabilitation.
- Maintain appropriate records and ensure relevant worker’s compensation forms are completed.
- Ensure the Agency complies with the Guidelines for Rehabilitation Authorities Instrument 2019.
MANDATORY
- Experience working in a similar role under Australian rules and regulations
- Experience in coordinating and assisting in the management of complex cases
- 5+ years’ experience in Rehabilitation Case Management or a Work Health and Safety (WHS) discipline
- Case management skills
- Experience in specialist areas including managing illness/injury and return to work, workplace adjustments, policy interpretation, and disability workplace assessments
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, and proficiency in the use of IT systems including Microsoft Office
- Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development
- Working with Children Check. This is only applicable to some positions within the Agency that require the occupant to have access to classified Australian Government information.
- The Agency Worker Screening Check. This is only applicable to some positions within the Agency that require the occupant to have access to classified Australian Government information.
- Current Police Check, o ability to obtain one
- Negotiation skills and ability to influence (role works with stakeholders at all levels of the Agency)
- Policy writing skills and interpretation
- Formal qualifications in disability, WHS and/or safety related discipline

- Experience in building relationships both with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to work within and across teams, the ability to adapt quickly to a changing environment
- Ability to manage confidential and sensitive information.
- Ability to prioritise and allocate tasks in an efficient manner while also maintaining high work standards and accuracy.
