Our Federal Government client is seeking to engage in a Rehabilitation Case Manager position for a 12-month assignment with potential extension in Adelaide CBD.
About the Team
The Workplace Health, Safety and Support Team provides leadership, advice and support in health case management. This includes injury prevention and management, early intervention, rehabilitation, workplace adjustments and support for employees with disability.
Working in partnership with internal and external stakeholders, the team supports our vision to be an employer of choice for people with disability and a world leading organisation for access and inclusion. They develop and implement integrated people policies, practices and processes to support employees with illness, injury and disability.
About the Role
The APS6 Rehabilitation Case Manager is accountable under limited direction to undertake complex work that is guided by legislation, policies, procedures, standards, methodologies and precedents. The position will perform various activities using different, unrelated, but established processes and methods.
The role is responsible for undertaking a range of procedural, operational and administrative activities within a HR environment. They will be responsible for the provision of efficient, accurate advice and assistance to employees with work and non-work related injuries to return to work in a safe, timely and sustainable manner.

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
- Providing sound advice to clients and stakeholders regarding Early Intervention, Compensation and related HR issues.
- Working collaboratively with stakeholders to support the Early Intervention and Compensation Case Management frameworks.
- Resolving problems using knowledge and experience, and take the initiative to identify alternative courses of action.
- Interpreting and applying legislation, policy, agreements and guidelines to recommend solutions to address Early Intervention and Case Management issues.
- Initiating, co-ordinating and monitoring an injured or ill employee’s workplace rehabilitation program.
- Connecting and coordinating people involved in the return to work process.
- Promoting the health benefits of good work, early intervention and the organisation’s return to work approach.
- Assisting the NDIA to provide suitable employment for injured or ill employees.
- Co-ordinating the employer's responses to requests for information about the employee, their injury or illness, and their rehabilitation.
- Maintaining appropriate records and ensure relevant worker’s compensation forms are completed.
- Ensuring the NDIA complies with the Guidelines for Rehabilitation Authorities Instrument 2019.
- 5+ years’ experience in Rehabilitation Case Management or a Work Health and Safety (WHS) discipline
- Case management skills
- Experience in specialist areas including managing illness/injury and return to work, workplace adjustments, policy interpretation, and disability workplace assessments
- Negotiation skills and ability to influence (role works with stakeholders at all levels of the Agency)
- Policy writing skills and interpretation
- Formal qualifications in disability, WHS and/or safety related discipline
