About the role:

The APS 6 Policy Officer is responsible for provide advice and policy analysis to inform the development, negotiation, coordination and agreement of strategic and intergovernmental policy and programs that interact with the Agency. Additionally, you will communicate with various internal and external stakeholders in a representational role on behalf of the government agency.

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Interpret, draft and review policy and procedural issues within specialist areas.
  • Contribute to the planning and implementation of the Agency policies and objectives.
  • Draft reports, brief papers, speeches, Ministerial correspondence and discussion papers.
  • Conduct research and analysis to inform policy development.
  • Tailor written and verbal communications for a variety of audiences, providing advice on complex issues.
  • Identify emerging issues across mainstream interfaces and suggesting potential solutions.

MANDATORY
  • Experience working in a similar role under Australian rules and regulations
  • Experience in coordinating and assisting in the management of complex cases
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, and proficiency in the use of IT systems including Microsoft Office
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development
  • Current Police Check, o ability to obtain one
