Chandler Macleod is proudly working with a Government Agency that aims to safeguard Australians at risk of online harms and promote safer, more positive online experiences. There are opportunities available in Melbourne.

About the role:
The APS6 Policy and Project Officer will provide support for a set of foundational safety expectations for social media services, messaging services, gaming services and other apps and sites accessible from Australia.
Responsibilities may include:

  • Support stakeholder engagement with tech companies, civil society organisations, and academia;
  • Contribute to the planning of processes and strategies to improve user safety online
  • Support analytical work to understand the impact of online services' safety interventions, and compliance with the agency's online safety expectations;
  • Provide advice and guidance on relevant global developments and online safety transparency initiatives;
  • Work collaboratively with other key areas of the organisation

About you:

Ideally you will have relevant education and experience in a similar role under Australian rules and regulations, as well as:

  • Be fully vaccinated to be able to work in the office
  • Media relations experience including preparing Ability to translate complex data/concepts into written work that is relevant and digestible to a range of audiences
  • Excellent research, analytical and communication skills, including demonstrated ability to produce and edit a range of complex materials for print
  • Previous experience handling confidential and sensitive issues
  • Act decisively and with precision, while communicating and collaborating with the broader team
  • Strong project management skills
