About the role:

The APS6 People Support Manager (HR Generalist) will provide detailed technical, professional, policy, operational support and advice in relation to complex problems. It may be required to coordinate and assist in the strategic planning, program and project management and policy development that support the Agency’s objectives.

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Manage, resolve, and respond to a range of employee issues and enquiries in line with the Agency’s Enterprise Agreement (EA), work practices and relevant legislation.
  • Provide advice and support on performance, systems, and processes.
  • Undertake technical research and providing input into P&C policies and supporting materials, ensuring practices are compliant with policy, Agency culture and values.
  • Assist in the development of learning materials, including guides, information sheets and other supporting resources.
  • Participate in People and Culture Communities of Practice meetings and activities.
  • Support culture and inclusion initiatives, such as the promotion of events and communications.
  • Provide regular updates and reports on a range of People & Culture measures, activities and processes.
  • Support the management of People & Culture processes, such as recruitment, conformance and advice.


  • Experience working in a similar role under Australian rules and regulations
  • 5+ years’ experience in Human Resources (HR) discipline
  • Case management skills
  • HR Generalist experience in multiple areas of HR, including performance management and/or behaviour and misconduct
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, and proficiency in the use of IT systems including Microsoft Office
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development
  • Current Police Check, o ability to obtain one
Desirable skills to have for the role

  • Negotiation skills and ability to influence (role works with senior stakeholders at higher level)
  • Policy writing skills and interpretation
  • Experience in industrial relations
