About the role:

The APS6 Media Officer will work with diverse internal and external stakeholders to help deliver a range of communications, media solutions and opportunities. You will assist in the strategic planning, program and project management, and policy development to support the Agency's objectives.

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Seek opportunities to promote the Scheme, with a particular focus on pursuing individual stories about participants and their Agency supports.
  • Manage relationships and develop strong networks and positive connections with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Produce media and other communications products, including media releases and talking points, social media posts and media plans to support the Agency announcements and media opportunities for the Agency spokespeople and the Minister
  • Develop media plans to support Agency announcements and media opportunities.
  • Monitor and identify potential media risks.
  • Manage and respond to media enquiries.
  • Support the delivery of media engagement and public relations activities.
  • Undertake a wide variety of general tasks as required, including but not limited to managing inbox enquiries, organising photo shoots and providing content to varied internal stakeholders.


  • Tertiary qualifications (Bachelor's degree or higher) in Media or Similar (Such as Marketing, Communications, Graphic Design etc)
  • Experience working in a similar role under Australian rules and regulations
  • Experience in coordinating and assisting in the management of complex cases
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, and proficiency in the use of IT systems including Microsoft Office.
  • Experience in organizing, assessment and case management via telephone.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Current Police Check, o ability to obtain one.
