About the role:

The APS6 Executive and Corporate Communications Officer is responsible for developing and delivering internal and external communication plans for the Agency. Producing high quality content will be a significant part of your role. You will collaborate with business areas, demonstrating strong relationship and negotiation skills to ensure content is strategically aligned, audience focused and timely. Additionally, you will contribute to the improvement of our communications channels to ensure they meet the needs of our audiences.

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Support business areas to understand their communication needs, and providing strategic and considered advice to support delivery of Corporate Plan aspirations and objectives
  • Contribute to the regular development, delivery and review of strategic communications content through established communication channels
  • Support the development, implementation, tracking and measurement of communications strategies to help keep them on time.
  • Prepare high-quality, clear and accessible written content that meets the needs of participants and other audiences and aligns with the Agency brand
  • Escalate reputational risks associated with communication activities
  • Establish and maintain strong internal and external networks to facilitate development and delivery of effective, targeted and timely communication activities
  • Analyse communications outcomes and participating in discussions within your team on how to build improvements into future activities
  • Sharing knowledge within the Communications Branch and helping to build communication capability in business areas
  • Support the research and testing of products and channels, and collect and collate analytics to help colleagues interpret content performance and identify improvements
  • Foster creativity and innovation in content creation across a range of channels

  • Experience working in a similar role under Australian rules and regulations.
  • Experience in the preparation and implementation of strategic communication plans.
  • Strong written communication and interpersonal skills with confidence to deliver clear advice.
  • The ability to work proactively in a fast-paced workplace delivering high-quality content often in short timeframes.
  • The ability to deliver high-quality written documents and reports, often within short timeframes, and to exacting standards. This includes items for the intranet, to quick-turnaround newsletters, to policies and procedures, etc.
  • Relevant experience or tertiary qualifications in communications, public relations, journalism or similar field.
  • Copy writing experience across a variety of channels.
  • Lived experience of disability or an understanding and passion for achieving quality outcomes for people with disability.
  • Current Police Check, o ability to obtain one.
