Our Federal Government client is seeking to engage in APS6 Disability Liaison Officer position for a 12-month assignment with potential extension in Adelaide CBD.

About the Team

The Workplace Health, Safety and Support Team provides leadership, advice and support in health case management. This includes injury prevention and management, early intervention, rehabilitation, workplace adjustments and support for employees with disability.

Working in partnership with internal and external stakeholders, the team supports our vision to be an employer of choice for people with disability and a world leading organisation for access and inclusion. They develop and implement integrated people policies, practices and processes to support employees with illness, injury and disability.

About the Role

The APS6 Disability Liaison Officer is a team membership position that may be required to perform work that involves team leadership and management responsibilities requiring the setting of priorities and managing workflows of a team.

The position has reasonable autonomy and accountability to exercise both initiative and judgment to interpret legislation and policy, in the application of practices and procedures to achieve outcomes within the functions.

The APS6 Disability Liaison Officer will provide detailed technical, professional, policy, operational support and advice in relation to complex problems. It may be required to coordinate and assist in the strategic planning, program and project management and policy development that support the NDIA's objectives to "build a world-leading National Disability Insurance Scheme".

The role will have a considerable level of public contact in relation to complex, difficult or sensitive issues. It may liaise with a range of internal and external stakeholders in a representational role on behalf of the branch/division/NDIA.

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Providing sound advice and working collaboratively with clients and stakeholders regarding Workplace Adjustments, access and inclusion and related Human Resource (HR) issues.
  • Interpreting and applying legislation, policy, agreements and guidelines to recommend solutions to address Workplace Adjustment requirements.
  • Initiating, co-ordinating and monitoring an employee with disability's workplace assessments and provision of workplace adjustments and supports.
  • Connecting and co-ordinating people involved in the workplace adjustments and access and inclusion supports process.
  • Working collaboratively with the wider division to ensure alignment, knowledge sharing, and to build disability confidence.

Key skills required for role

5+ years' experience in Human Resources (HR) discipline and experience supporting people with disabilities

Case management skills (preferably supporting people with disability)

Experience in specialist areas including managing illness/injury and return to work, workplace adjustments, policy interpretation, disability workplace assessments

Desirable skills to have for the role

Negotiation skills and ability to influence (role works with stakeholders at all levels of the Agency)

Policy writing skills and interpretation

Formal qualifications in disability, WHS and/or safety related discipline

What's on Offer?

  • Position located in Adelaide
  • APS6 $58.50/ph + super
  • Temporary contract for 12 months, with possibility to extend
  • Standard Hours or work - Monday to Friday, 8:30 am till 5:00 pm
